Have objected to our call for the re-execution of the old blind deaf wheelchair-bound dude from California on the grounds that he's, get this, already dead. Oh, so this guy gets to kill three people, and we only get to kill him once? Think again, old dead blind deaf wheelchair-bound dude! And think again, lily-livered bleeding heart milksops who were ne'er weaned from the Dumbo dug of human gullibility! An eye for an eye does not mean two eyes for six eyes! That would leave us short four eyes, which in turn would queer the biblical deal and toss a sabot in the gears of the wheels of human justice! No, we demand that the old blind deaf dude be executed again--and then again! Some soft-hearted sissies of brokeback-mountain persuasion would doubtlessly lispingly ask: What good does it do to rekill a corpse? One might as well ask why hit a child twice. Or why kick the dog four times. Or put the cat in a sack and throw him in the Ohio River. The answer, of course, is because it satisfies a healthy deep creek lake state park uman need for savage, mindless reprisal. (Well, maybe not the cat. That we'd do just because we're a sadist.) But the point is, we're letting these killers off practically scot free by only killing them back. We need to find ways to kill them over and over again, preferably on television during commercial breaks of American Idol ! America demands it. Justice demands it.

Two further soldiers died in Basra, bringing the total number of British soldiers killed in Iraq to 157. The base that Britain has withdrawn to, the Basra Palace, comes under repeated attacks from Shi'ite militias, since we no longer control the city. Britain has withdrawn hundreds of troops from Iraq, leaving a force of around 5,500 based mainly on the fringes of Basra, Iraq's second-largest city, 550 kilometers (340 miles) southeast of Baghdad. Their bases frequently come under mortar fire from Shiite militants in the city. The U.S. currently has about 155,000 troops in Iraq. The soldier was killed during an operation to arrest militiamen who had previously been implicated in attacks on British troops. Any incursion of British forces into Basra proper is met with resistance. The patrol that carried out this operation in Tuninah district suffered one dead, and three wounded, out of 1,000 troops participating. The Iraqi government has confirmed that they would prefer to take control of security in Basra over the next three months. This would complete the transfer of security in the British zone. It is a transfer that Gordon Brown's administration could support, easing financial pressure on the Ministry of Defence and accelerating a withdrawal that is unpopular canada fly in fishing ith the Labour Party. Once the transfer was complete, the armed forces would play a supporting role. Yet, the Army would not have completed its remit of passing security over to a competent and impartial force.
